Once again EA overlooks the simple things we expect as gamers. This game has no online play. How can EA expect this game to stand up to the others on the market when there is no online play? Based on that alone, this game is boring when played as a standalone. Don’t buy this crap!

There have been many different racing games that have made their way onto the Wii. While there are the great and loving ones like Mario Kart Wii and Excite Truck which have dominated as strong racers, there honestly are other ones that lag their way into a crash into the wall on the final lap of the race. For NASCAR fans though, they are seeming to try to do whatever it takes to get newcomers into the thrilling need for speed to games hearts. Unfortunately, they have definitely shown that in their video games have been just about turning to the left to cross the finish line. Now, they are trying to get kiddie racing a try, but that falls flat too in this title.

NASCAR Kart Racing for the Nintendo Wii, is EA and NASCAR latest way of trying to bring in the strength of hard core racing gamers, that feels like it is a waste down the pocketbook that just runs straight to the wall and is set to fire. The game allows wannabe racers to race their way through several tracks from the desert, to the snow and even through traditional NASCAR circuits like the Daytona 500 raceway. The graphics might be good, but borrows a bit too much from the success of Mario Kart Wii, by having kiddie versions of racers like Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnheart Jr., and using weapons like oil slicks rockets instead of turtle shells to knocks your racers back to last place, all to race their way to the finish line and misses so many marks. The graphics might be good, but the control sticks up a little bit. Another problem is the lack of online gaming, where you can’t race against others to the top of the NASCAR tournament. While you can race against foes through battle races at home, it just doesn’t hit the pedal to the metal.

All in all, I am not very impress with NASCAR Kart Racing. It is definitely not a must for your Wii library to the soul. I was not even as impressed at all. While it might seem good for those wannabe NASCAR fans, I wouldn’t even say yes to gentlemen start your engines, and just wave the caution flag when glancing at the Wii title. To be honest with you, stick with Mario Kart Wii instead. You’ll definitely have more fun with that race to the checkered flag instead.

Very disappointed in this game. Graphics are much worse than Mario Kart, controls are clunky and it is way too easy. My wife and I both won first time out, no challenge at all and haven’t played since. The hazards and power-ups are a rip-off of Mario Kart. The “teammate” idea is, well, just plain stupid. Really hurts the game play. One other aspect, while Bowser or Toad yelling “yeah” is kind of neat, Jeff Gordon or Dale Jr. yelling “yea ha” is, sorry, but just plain stupid.

I know this has a lot of high ratings and I’m in the minority but given this from another reviewer you have to question all the high ratings. “Received product promtly, but have been so busy with other things, we have yet to play the game. But I feel it has to be good it is NASCAR!” Yet she gave it 5 stars. OK, whatever.
