I purchased the XCM HDMI Blaster to upscale my Standard 480i STB to 720p to take advantage of the HD movie and local channels

Something which was of some worry when placing the order was if the “info” banner on my HD LCD TV would display the information as 16:9 720p. Which it does.

There was also worry that this unit although sold in the US, did not come with the appropriate electrical plug in and that an adapter from European to American would need to be purchased. In the box it can with BOTH plug – ins.

This unit came with a DVI – HD adapter, and a HDMI cable.

Due to the fact our picture resolution and color had been adjusted prior to hook up for then best picture, when we did hook up the XCM HDMI BLASTER the color was true and deep and the picture was very very sharp.

As with everything adjustment is always needed to fit your preference.

This unit does exactly as is states. I would compare it in size to that of a PSP but squared off.

Another thing is that it has NO lag in picture. There have been some reviews stating that when you upscale and convert analog to digital you will get a lag. There is none.

Black is black and not green, white is sharp and not fuzzy.

We researched Upscalers and Upconverters, we could find none under $300. This is only $100 after over night shipping from TotalConsoles.

To close this is not 1080p or 1080i but it is 720p. It does not make the signal 720p but it does upscale to 720p which is nearly 95% the same as being true incoming 720p.

On a side note if you can go into the device itself (the one hooked to XCM) and change from 4:3 to 16:9 and then also on your television it would be best. And you may also want to change your television to full pixel and screen. This will take any boxing away.

Buy it, it is worth it. Nothing to my knowledge on the market anywhere like it.
